You can also look at HTBase (www.htbase.com), which is the first and only tool in the market that is able to deliver Essbase hot backups, eliminating the need to stop the applications or put it in archive mode to be able to back it up.
Through that, it increases Essbase environment availability and security, since you can run incremental backups every 10 minutes for example, so if anything wrong goes on, you can roll back to 10 minutes before.
